Course: The Ethnography of Urban Centers
The urban Folklore and Anthropology. Subjects, theories and methods of their approach. Thematic fields:
• The detection of historicity of the social and cultural identity of urban centers
• Phases of the Greek urbanization
• The Refugees from Asia Minor (1922)
• The internal immigrants in the urban centers
• Agro – urban continuous as experience of Greece
• Social and cultural stratification
• The popular cultural of the cities: rempetiko, popular songs, Karagiozis
• The social and cultural constitution of urban place and landscape
• The city as place of Other. Processes of integration, identities, variations, exclusions
• The city, space and gender
• Places of memory
Seminar (2 hours): Collecting voices and memories of the Ioannina city.
The techniques of interview and of Life stories. Recording, Transcripting and classifying. Analysis and Interpretation.
