ON THE INVARIANTS OF THE TANGENT CONE OF A ONE DIMENSIONAL LOCAL RING


ABSTRACT


Given a one-dimensional Cohen-Macaulay local ring we study the structure of its tangent cone

defined by means of the graded Noether normalization provided by a minimal reduction. This

allows to define a set of invariants that refines classical invariants of the ring as the multiplicity. We describe such invariants and give explicit formulas for them in terms of colon ideals. Computations will also be given, particularly for the case of semigroup rings.
