CLASSIFYING REPRESENTATIONS OF FINITE GROUPS
ABSTRACT
This talk starts with an introduction to the representation
theory of finite groups. The basic challenge is to classify for a given
finite group all its linear representations. I will explain how support
varieties and cohomological methods are used, providing beautiful links to
other parts of mathematics, such as geometry and topology.
