Solar Eruptive Phenomena (SEP) is a 4-year Marie Curie Re-integration Grant awarded
to the fellow after an 8-year term in USA.
SEP aims to enhance our understanding of both the initial stages and the propagation to Earth of Solar Eruptive Phenomena such as the Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs).
CMEs are a main driver of the variable Space Weather which impacts high-tech human (e.g. telecommunications) activities and infrastructures in both space and Earth.
More specifically SEP addresses the following:
- Understand the genesis of CMEs
- Determine the Flare-CME-Coronal Waves relationships
- Determine accurate CME arrival times
The project's team includes the following:
Prof. Spiros Patsourakos (fellow)
Prof. Alexander Nindos (scientist in charge)
Prof. Veronica Ontiveros (post-doctoral associate)
Dr. Olena Podladchikova (post-doctoral associate).
