PROGRAM

The workshop takes place at a time when a wealth of new data has become (or will become soon) available from space-borne and ground-based observations. The format of the workshop will combine plenary sessions and less-structured parallel working group sessions. The plenary sessions will consist of invited tutorial/review talks and oral contributions that have been selected by the SOC from the submitted abstracts (contributions not selected for oral presentation can be given as posters). The working group sessions will run in parallel and  will be devoted to informal presentations and unconstrained discussions. Discussions in the working group sessions will be supported by the material presented in the plenary sessions.

The major issues that will be addressed by the workshop correspond to the topics of the review talks and working groups:

       Invited reviews

  • Particle acceleration processes in heliospheric plasmas: G. Mann (tutorial talk).

  • The magnetic origin of solar eruptions: A. Nindos (tutorial talk)

  • Current sheets in flares and CMEs -theoretical expectations and observational evidence: M. Karlicky

  • Multi-frequency manifestations of CMEs -ejecta and travelling disturbances: J. Khan

  • Flares and CMEs -where we stand after SOHO and what we hope to achieve with STEREO: A. Vourlidas

  • Solar energetic particles, flares and CMEs -present status and STEREO perspective: S. Krucker

  • Particle acceleration at CMEs: shock waves, turbulence, reconnection triggered by the CME: R. Vainio

  • Current status of ground-based and space-borne radio instruments: C.E. Alissandrakis

  • LOFAR: C. Vocks

  • FASR: T. Bastian

      Working Groups

  • Working Group 1: Pre-flare, pre-CME phase. Group leaders: H. Aurass, L. van Driel

  • Working Group 2: Flare and CME energetics. Group leaders: B. Vrsnak, A. Vourlidas

  • Working Group 3: Particle acceleration related to flares and CMEs. Group leaders: A. MacKinnon, N. Vilmer
