VENUE

The workshop will take place at the "DI.K.E.P.P.E.E. Stavros Niarchos" center which is located next to the University of Ioannina campus (some 6 km south of downtown Ioannina). The center (in Greek, its acronym stands for "International Center for Greek Culture and Vocational Training")  was inaugurated on February 2005 and consists of teaching rooms, laboratories for trainees, facilities for conferences and cultural events and a theater.

Plenary sessions will take place in the DIKEPPEE's central auditorium that can host up to 200 participants. Working group sessions will take place in smaller rooms. The auditorium and the other rooms that will host the workshop are equipped with all modern facilities required for a conference.

The conference site is easily accessible from downtown Ioannina via public transportation (one bus every 10-15 minutes). If you stay at a downtown hotel, you should get bus Number 16 from Ioannina's Main Street (Dodonis Avenue) bus stop which is located across the street from the Courthouse and a couple of blocks south of Ioannina's Prefecture Building. Get off at "Metavatiko Ktirio" bus stop on campus. DIKEPPEE is within walking distance from there; your way to the workshop's venue will be marked by signs prepared by the LOC.  It is also possible (but not yet guaranteed) to use, for free, buses that belong to the University for the transportation of participants from downtown Ioannina to the conference site.

If you drive from downtown Ioannina, take Dodonis Avenue towards Athens and merge onto Ioannina-Athens National Road. Continue southbound until the first traffic light (there is a gas station on your right and a military camp on your left).  Follow the signs to "University" and "University Hospital" and make a right turn there and after one block make a left. You are at "Panepistimiou Road" now (a.k.a. "Stavros Niarchos Road"). You follow it until you reach an intersection with a big green "To University Hospital" sign. Make a right turn there and after about 50 meters make a right again following the big blue "To DIKEPPEE Stavros Niarchos Center" sign. Then drive straight ahead for about 50 meters until you reach a blue-roof building which is the conference venue (this cartoon visualizes the driving directions).

ACCOMMODATION

There is a guest house attached to the DIKEPPEE facilities. It contains 44 modern two-bed rooms that can host participants provided that at the time of the workshop they won't be used by people (foreign students studying modern Greek) who have granted priority access to the guest house. We anticipate that at the time of the workshop most rooms will be available to the participants. The guest house's room rates are 30 Euros per night if one person occupies a single room and 20 Euros per night per person if two persons share a room.

                                                             MEALS

Participants will have lunch either at the student's cafeteria or at the "Phegos" faculty club restaurant. The student's cafeteria also serves dinner (from 6 to 9 pm) and breakfast (7:30-9:45 am). Each meal at the student's cafeteria costs 0.9 Euros, except breakfast which is free.  At "Phegos", prices are more expensive but still reasonable. 

For dinner there are several good restaurants at downtown Ioannina, and close to the Lake (ask the LOC if you are interested in).
